Planning for the Long Game
Serious decisions require good information and consideration, we can create our future.

The Longe Range Planning Committee is a standing committee of the Grand Lodge established under Code 50 (h). As the leadership of the Grand Lodge evolves every year, it is obviously necessary to look farther ahead to at issues that may impact the Grand Lodge in coming years, assess the need for action and devise strategies to address those issues. The committee is composed of the Grand Master, Grand Deacons, Grand Wardens, Grand Treasurer and Grand Secretary, headed by the Senior Grand Warden.
We are continuing to create a better way forward with the Grand Lodge Endowed Membership fund. It is disheartening and frustrating to be at the mercy of the investment climate to pay out to the Lodges as may be available each year. A solution needs to be found and there is only so far down the road that this “can” can be kicked.
Another subject will be the status of the Grand Lodge building and how and where it best serves the Craft. The University of New Mexico covets the location it now occupies. A constituent Lodge rents space behind it. How necessary is it that it be located in Albuquerque? This is a topic that has been bubbling under the surface for a while. And of course, there are and will be others.
The new leadership has recently been installed and this first meeting of this year’s committee will be held soon. As always, good and wise advice is welcome, and we are open to ideas about the future of the Craft.
